News Release: May New Vehicle Registrations

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Cleveland, OH – Franchised new motor vehicle dealers in Northern Ohio sold 19,434 new cars, trucks and SUVs last month, an increase of 3.36 percent over May of 2023. According to figures released today by the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association (GCADA), sales for the year to date in 2024 were up by 5.54 percent compared to the same timeframe last year.

“The Northern Ohio market remains on a consistent pace for both new and used vehicle sales,” says Louis A. Vitantonio, president of the GCADA. “With more incentives available and inventory returning to normal levels, consumers are finding better values, including the return of vehicles available for leases.”

Used vehicle sales totaled 19,043 in May, an increase of 4.61 percent over the same month last year. For the year to date, used sales have risen by 5.03 percent.

Chevrolet was once again the region’s best-selling brand, with 2,891 new vehicles sold in May. Ford stayed just behind, with 2,252 sales in the month. Honda remained in third at 1,880 sales registered, while Toyota jumped back into fourth place with 1,586 sales over Kia’s 1,374.
