FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Cleveland, OH – Sales of new vehicles were off by 3.36 percent in February when compared to the same month last year, according to figures released today by the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association (GCADA). For the year to date, registrations increased by 1.62 percent.
“Severe weather through much of February made retail sales difficult,” says Louis A. Vitantonio, president of the GCADA. “However, as February came to a close along with the Cleveland Auto Show, dealerships saw a significant increase in foot traffic, which should help March sales.”
Northern Ohio new vehicle registrations totaled 15,080 last month, compared to 15,605 in February 2024. So far in 2025, a total of 34,522 new cars, trucks and SUVs have been sold, up from 33,972 last year.
Used vehicle sales in the region continue to struggle, with 14,940 sales in the month of February, off by 15.14 percent compared to the same month last year, and down by 9.03 percent year over year.
Chevrolet remains the best-selling brand in the 21-county region, with 2,252 new vehicles sold. Ford’s sales of 1,734 kept them in second place, followed by Honda with 1,301 sales in February. Kia and Toyota round out Northern Ohio’s top five, with 1,201 and 1,174 sales, respectively.
