FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Cleveland, OH – Northern Ohio new vehicle sales increased by 7.75 percent in March, when compared to the same month last year. According to figures released today by the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association (GCADA), a total of 19,697 new vehicles were registered last month, compared to the 18,280 sales in March of 2024.
“Coming out of the Cleveland Auto Show in early March helped kickstart the spring selling season,” says Louis A. Vitantonio, president of the GCADA. “Consumer traffic remained strong throughout the month as shoppers looked to buy vehicles prior to the tariffs being applied.”
“Preowned vehicle sales continue to struggle, as inventory is difficult to come by and interest rates raise concerns for customers. We are cautiously optimistic that overall sales will continue to outpace 2024.”
So far in 2025, a total of 54,219 new cars, trucks and SUVs have been sold, an increase of 3.76 percent over last year.
Used vehicle sales totaled 17,551 in the month of March are off by 7.82 percent compared to the same month last year, and down by 8.61 percent year over year.
Chevrolet continues to be the best-selling brand in the region, with 2,954 new vehicles sold. Ford’s sales of 2,377 hold second place in March. Honda stays in third with 1,830 sales, followed by Kia and Toyota with 1,647 and 1,451 sales, respectively.
