GCADA Offers ‘Cash for Classics’

Cleveland, OH (December 17, 2010) — Remember Cash for Clunkers? Well the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association is going to be offering Cash for Classics in 2011.

As a part of the all-new Cleveland Auto Show, presented by AutoTrader.com, the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association (GCADA) is for the first time, offering cash prizes for winners of its 13th Annual Classic Car Competition. The Classic Car Competition is sponsored by Pennzoil and the GCADA.

“The Classic Car Competition is always one of the favorite displays at the Cleveland Auto Show,” says Bill Burke, of the Spitzer Auto Group and chairman of the GCADA and the 2011 Cleveland Auto Show. “By offering cash prizes for the first time, we’re sure we will attract the very best restored classics not only from the Greater Cleveland area, but from surrounding areas as well.”

All participants in the Classic Car Competition are eligible to win a cash prize courtesy of the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers, as well as prizes courtesy of Pennzoil. One cash prize of $500 will be awarded to the “Car of the Show” and five $100 cash prizes will be awarded to the top five vehicle award winners.

“The Classic Car Competition is highly regarded by car enthusiasts and is visited by over 600,000 people each year,” says Karen Ford, manager of the Classic Car Competition. “Ohio is the second largest market in the nation for hot rod building and classic vehicle restoration, so we always have a great competition. It’s also fun to compare the classics of yesteryear with the modern classics and new designs seen on the main exhibit floor.”

The Classic Car Competition is only open to cars 25 years old or older. Exhibit space is free and is professionally decorated to best display each vehicle. There is no fee to participate and no fee for trailer parking for the duration of the show. All participants will receive 2011 Auto Show credentials and a commemorative dash plaque. All eligible vehicles must be approved by show management and may not be offered for sale.

All vehicles in the competition compete for prizes with judging based on body, paint, motor, chassis and interior. The awards ceremony, including the prize for Best of Show award, will be presented Saturday, March 5, 2011.

To participate, simply contact Karen Ford via e-mail at classiccar@gcada.org or kford@gcada.org. You can also register online at www.clevelandautoshow.com under the Classic Car Competition link. While the deadline for registration is Monday, February 14, 2011, early registration is always recommended.

The Cleveland Auto Show and the Classic Car Competition are open to the public on Saturday, February 26.
