Cleveland Auto Show Selects 2014
Buick LaCrosse and 2015 GMC Yukon
as Car and Truck of the Show

Cleveland, OH (February 13, 2014) — The 2014 Buick LaCrosse and 2015 GMC Yukon have been have named Car and Truck of the 2014 Cleveland Auto Show. The Cleveland Auto Show opens its doors to the public on Saturday, March 1, and runs through Sunday, March 9 at the I-X Center.

“The LaCrosse is definitely the flagship for the Buick brand,” says Ed Babcock, chairman of the 2014 Cleveland Auto Show and fourth generation owner of the Junction Family Auto Dealerships in Chardon. “It offers all-wheel drive, as well as the availability of eAssist for greater fuel economy.”

“The LaCrosse is our flagship sedan, while the Yukon has been totally reengineered from top to bottom for 2015, so they are both very exciting vehicles,” adds Robert Coffey, zone manager for Buick GMC.

While the changes to the 2014 Buick LaCrosse are subtle, they are noticeable. The grille is larger and the traditional of Buick side vents have moved to the hood. The headlights are sharper and have LED accents. Similarly, the taillights have been redesigned for a more aggressive look.

The more important changes come in the interior, and in the new technology offered on the 2014 LaCrosse. In addition to its new interior and design cues, the 2014 LaCrosse offers advanced safety technologies and enhanced in-vehicle connectivity. The cabin also incorporates Buick’s next-generation IntelliLink infotainment system, with intuitive controls and natural voice recognition.

The 2014 LaCrosse is offered in front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive models and offers two powertrains: a 2.4-liter engine with eAssist light electrification technology available only in front wheel drive models, or a 3.6-liter direct-injected V6, which is available in both front wheel drive and all wheel drive powertrains. Each is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.

LaCrosse also features a ton of standard content across all trim levels, including: eight air bags with rear seat thorax air bags; electronic stability control; four-wheel anti-lock brakes; OnStar with six months of Directions and Connection service; a premium audio system with three months of free Sirius XM radio and steering wheel mounted controls; dual zone climate control and remote keyless entry, among many other features.

New radar- and camera-based safety features also help surround the new LaCrosse with protection from all angles. They include lane change alert, side blind zone alert, lane departure warning, forward collision alert, rear cross traffic alert and automatic collision preparation. GM’s patented Safety Alert Seat works with many of these available features, providing seat vibration pulses indicating the direction of a potential crash threat.

Full Speed Adaptive Cruise Control is also avaialble. It senses traffic in front of the LaCrosse to adjust vehicle speed, including bringing the vehicle to a complete stop and accelerating again.

As Truck of the Show, the all-new 2015 Yukon, Yukon XL and flagship Yukon Denali models deliver greater capability and refinement, with more power, new foldflat rear seats and a quieter interior. Thanks to a new family of advanced EcoTec3 engines, the lineup is expected to deliver the segment’s best V8 fuel economy.

Bold styling and advanced technologies – including new safety and security technologies – support Yukon’s greater capability, while a more comprehensive list of standard features and enhanced infotainment options are designed to broaden the appeal of one of the industry’s most-popular full-size SUV lineups.

When it comes to safety, the 2015 Yukon lineup incorporates new technologies to help protect the driver and passengers before, during and after a collision. They include a forward radar system and the segment’s only front seat center-mounted air bag on models with bucket seats, which is engineered to provide additional protection to drivers and front passengers in far-side impact crashes, where the affected occupant is on the opposite, non-struck side of the vehicle.

Standard and available safety features, depending on the model, also include forward collision alert, front park assist, lane departure warning, lane change assist, rear cross traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, front and rear automatic braking, and GM’s Safety Alert Seat.

Both the 2014 LaCrosse and 2015 Yukon will be featured at the Cleveland Auto Show, but will not be given away. Instead, the Cleveland Auto Show and Northern Ohio Buick GMC dealers will give away the use of a brand new 2014 vehicle every day the Show is open as a part of the new “Car-A-Day Vehicle Giveaway” contest.

Each day the show is open, one lucky winner will be selected to receive a free, two-year lease of their choice of either a 2014 Buick Verano or a 2014 GMC Terrain. A total of nine vehicles will be given away during the Cleveland Auto Show’s run. The show has never given away more than two vehicles until this year.

As one of the largest auto shows in the nation, the Cleveland Auto Show always features the very best vehicles, concepts and displays from vehicle manufacturers across the globe. The Cleveland Auto Show is also the one place you can see all of what manufacturers are offering in their 2014/2015 model year lineups, all under one roof.

Considered one of the top five auto shows in the nation, the Cleveland Auto Show features more than 900 vehicles in over 1.2 million square feet of exhibit space over its nine day run at the I-X Center in Cleveland.
