Sales Increase Outpaces Expectations
Proving Northern Ohio Resilient

Cleveland, OH (July 10, 2014) – New vehicle sales spiked this month, recording a 16.57 percent increase for June of 2014 over the same month a year prior, according to figures released today by the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association (GCADA). The growth follows a steady climb over the first half of the calendar year.

“The double-digit growth continues to outpace expectations in the Northern Ohio market,” says Louis A. Vitantonio, president of the GCADA. “Consumer demand for new vehicles shows the resiliency of the automotive industry in our market.”

Sales of new vehicles across Northern Ohio continue to surpass predictions for 2014. For the year to date, franchised new vehicle dealers in Northern Ohio have sold nearly 121,000 vehicles versus 113,375 during the same period in 2013, an increase of 6.72 percent.

Ford remains Northern Ohio’s best-selling brand, recording a 15.69 percent sales increase compared to June of 2013, selling 3,871 new vehicles. Chevrolet came in second, selling 3,186 new vehicles for an increase of 5.25 percent. Honda maintained its third place ranking, selling 2,168 new vehicles in June, a nearly 20 percent jump, while Toyota was not far behind, selling 2,066 vehicles in the month.

The following brands posted sales increases in June of 2014 versus June of 2013: Audi, BMW, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Dodge, Ford, GMC, Honda, Hyundai, Infiniti, Jaguar, Jeep, Kia, Land Rover, Lexus, Lincoln, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mini, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, Toyota, and Volvo.
