JULY SALES UP 26% - OUTDO LAST YEAR’S CASH FOR CLUNKERS PROGRAM

Cleveland, OH (August 11, 2010) – According to figures released today by the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association (GCADA), July 10 v. July 09 new vehicle car and truck sales increased 26.47% when removing sales statistics for the Hummer, Pontiac and Saturn brands.  New vehicle sales year to date increased 18.12% YTD July 10 v. July 09. Ford continued to lead all automakers followed by Chevrolet, Toyota and Honda for Northern Ohio new vehicle sales.

“Our Northern Ohio market motor vehicles sales continue to rise even when compared to 2009 when the Cash For Clunkers program was in full swing.  Model year end incentives, credit availability and slight economic growth have led to continued sales increases in July.” says Louis A. Vitantonio, Jr., President of the GCADA.

22 Brands Up July (‘10 v. ‘09)

The following twenty-two brands posted sales increases in July ‘10 versus July ‘09: Acura, BMW, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Ford, GMC, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar, Jeep, Kia, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mercury, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, Suzuki, Toyota, and Volkswagen.

21 Brands Up Year-to-Date

Through July, 2010, twenty-one brands posted year-to-date sales increases in the region.  They are: Acura, Audi, BMW, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Ford, GMC, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Land Rover, Lexus, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo.

Retail sales figures are based on vehicle registration reports from the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles.  Vehicle sales data includes the counties of: Ashland, Ashtabula, Carroll, Columbiana, Coshocton, Cuyahoga, Erie, Geauga, Holmes, Huron, Lake, Lorain, Mahoning, Medina, Portage, Richland, Stark, Summit, Trumbull, Tuscarawas and Wayne.
