Jeep and Ram Bring Two Separate Indoor
Ride Events to the Cleveland Auto Show

Cleveland, OH (February 24, 2014) — Jeep and Ram, two brands known for rugged performance on- and off-road, are bringing two separate indoor ride events to Cleveland Auto Show this year. Camp Jeep is once again returning, while Ram is hosting its first indoor Ride event that will showcase the performance and capabilities of the new Ram truck.

The two indoor Ride events are a first for the Cleveland Auto Show.

“Camp Jeep offers Cleveland Auto Show attendees the chance to see what a Jeep can really do off-road,” said Ed Babcock, chairman of the 2014 Cleveland Auto Show and fourth generation owner of the Junction Auto Family Dealerships in Chardon. “It’s also a lot of fun and one of the favorites of show attendees year after year.”

Camp Jeep is the ultimate indoor off-road driving test. The 25,000-square foot exhibit gives participants a chance to experience the extreme off-road capabilities of Jeep vehicles without leaving the show floor. The course is comprised of several obstacles that simulate some of the rigorous testing that Jeep vehicles endure before customers get behind the wheel. It gives show attendees a first-hand look at the capability standards of Jeep vehicles for Ground Clearance, Traction, Stability, Articulation and Suspension.

The Camp Jeep Test Track is an interactive adventure zone where professional 4x4 drivers allow riders to experience a Jeep's on and off-road capabilities. Product specialists will chauffeur participants in a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, Wrangler Rubicon and Grand Cherokee to allow consumers to experience the legendary capabilities of a Jeep.

Camp Jeep features a thrilling hill climb where passengers experience the Jeep's traction capabilities while climbing the 18-foot high, 35-degree Jeep Mountain, the icon of the ride. Riders are over 22 feet off the ground when they sit on top of Jeep Mountain, giving them an excellent view of the Cleveland Auto Show floor.

The track also includes a 12 x 25-foot section of terrain simulating fallen logs measuring 18 inches in diameter and a 30-degree wedge to demonstrate the vehicle’s body articulation where attendees will experience the adrenaline rush of looking nearly straight up or straight down as they navigate the obstacle. The ride is about five minutes long.

For its part, Ram Trucks is also bringing a 25,000-square-foot track that provides a one-of-a-kind, interactive experience for show attendees. Like Camp Jeep, the Ram Truck Test Track is an interactive adventure zone. Professional drivers steer attendees through the interactive course in the Ram 1500, which was named Motor Trend and Texas Truck of the Year.

Key track features include a hill climb, where passengers get to experience first-hand the traction capabilities of a Ram Truck while climbing the 13-foot high, 30-yard long, 30-degree Ram Mountain. The Ram Truck Test Track also includes a 12 x 25-foot section of terrain simulating fallen logs that highlight ground clearance. A steel articulation demo demonstrates the body strength of a Ram, while a series of off-set steel ribbons showcase the suspension capability. A 30-degree wedge reveals the stability and ride quality of a Ram Truck.

Participating riders will be automatically entered into the Chrysler Group National Giveaway for a chance to win $45,000 toward any eligible Chrysler Group vehicle. Test-ride participants 17 years and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and be at least 44 inches tall.

Adjacent to Camp Jeep is the Jeep Kids Course, where kid-sized Jeeps will be available for the kids. While they are waiting for their turn, they can also try their hand at the 25-foot tall Jeep Climbing Wall and be entertained by a live DJ. A mini-Ram course will be adjacent to the Ram Track space where kid-sized Ram Trucks will be available for the younger set as well.

The Ram Truck Test Track and Camp Jeep will be open during all hours of the auto show.

The Cleveland Auto Show opens its doors at the I-X Center on Saturday March 1 and runs through Sunday, March 9 at the I-X Center in Cleveland. The show features more than 1,000 vehicles in over 1.2 million square feet of exhibit space over its nine-day run at the I-X Center in Cleveland.

Tickets for this year’s Cleveland Auto Show cost $13.00 for adults and $11.00 for seniors aged 62 and older and preteens aged seven to 12. Children six and under get in free. Parking is also free, courtesy of your franchised new motor vehicle dealers.
