Senate Tax Reform Bill Passes with 100% Floor Plan Deductibility Preserved

Tax Bill Now Moves to House-Senate Conference

Late last night, the Senate passed the "Tax Cuts and Jobs Act," which includes an NADA-supported amendment to preserve 100 percent deductibility of interest on floor plan loans.  This amendment was the top priority for NADA in the Senate tax reform bill.

With the Senate rushing to pass a major tax overhaul, correcting the floor plan deductibility provision presented major challenges.  Thank you to all members who contacted Senator Portman to urge his support of the amendment.

Now both the House and Senate tax reform bills include nearly identical floor plan interest deductibility provisions.  The bill will soon be considered by a House-Senate conference committee to reconcile the House and Senate bills before final passage.  It is possible that GCADA will ask for your help to contact your lawmaker during the conference negotiations, as changes to the bill can still be made.

GCADA will continue to provide any updates on the issue as they become available.  In the meantime, if you have any questions please contact your Association at 440.746.1500.  This update should not be considered tax and/or legal advice.
