As previously announced GCADA has received notification that the Michigan Secretary of State's Office has reported the theft of 2,000 blank Michigan titles. Some of these titles have apparently recently been presented in Ohio as the Registrar has issued a reminder on these stolen titles. The control numbers for the stolen titles are:

Dealers should check any Michigan titles presented to the dealership against the control numbers above. If a customer should present a stolen title, the dealership should contact local law enforcement or Walter Tremonti of the Michigan Department of State Information Center at 313-456-0667.

 

 

Dealers using the BMV Form 3772 must begin using the most recent version of the form (Revision Date 3/11-click HERE for a copy) on January 1, 2012.  Last March, a directive was issued to Clerks of Court across the state advising them to stop using older versions of the BMV Form 3772 and only accept the version with a 3/11 revision date.  The mandatory change was slated for April 2011, but the lack of notice created a number of problems for dealers.  As a result, the mandatory transition date was delayed to January 1, 2012.

 

You may continue using an older version of the BMV 3772 until 12/31/11, so dealers have an opportunity to exhaust their current supply of forms and reprogram their systems.  However, beginning January 1, 2012 the updated form must be used.
