FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Cleveland, OH – Northern Ohio dealers sold a total of 18,280 new cars, trucks and SUVs in March of 2024, according to figures released today by the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association (GCADA). Compared to the same month last year, sales by franchised new motor vehicle dealers were down by 5.12 percent. For the year to date, 52,252 new vehicles have hit the road, an increase of 5.39 percent over last year’s first quarter.
“Following a strong February, March vehicle sales were off against robust sales in March of 2023,” says Louis A. Vitantonio, president of the GCADA. “While interest rates remain inflated, incentives will continue to rise in order to reduce vehicle inventories that are higher than in the past three years. Overall, we are on track with our anticipated sales pace through the first quarter.”
Chevrolet reclaimed its spot as the region’s best-selling brand, with 2,538 new vehicle sales in March. Ford came in second, selling 2,157 new vehicles in the month. Honda remained in third with 1,770 registered sales, ahead of Toyota’s 1,402 and Kia’s 1,390.
