FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Cleveland, OH – New vehicle sales in January of 2025 surpassed last year’s sales by 5.85 percent, according to figures released today by the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association (GCADA).
The 21-county region of Northern Ohio saw 19,442 new vehicles hit the road last month, compared to 18,367 registrations in the first month of 2024. Used vehicle sales in the region totaled 17,265 in January, a decrease of 2.98 percent from the same month last year.
“Although January was hampered by Northern Ohio weather, new vehicle sales for the month outpaced 2024,” says Louis A. Vitantonio, president of the GCADA. “Inventory has been kept in check as remaining 2024 models are cleared off the lots, and incentives will continue to support sales until we see interest rate relief.”
“Used vehicle sales are struggling to grow with the limited number available from previous sales periods.”
Sales numbers are expected to climb after the Cleveland Auto Show as well, which is set to open in two weeks, running February 21 through March 2 at Cleveland’s I-X Center.
Chevrolet was again Northern Ohio’s best-selling brand to begin the year, selling 2,706 new vehicles. Ford came in second with 2,206 new vehicles sold in January. Honda came in third with 1,668 new vehicles sold in the month, ahead of Kia’s 1,553 sales.
