FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Cleveland, OH – According to data released today by the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association (GCADA), franchised new motor vehicle dealers completed 21,015 sales in April 2026. Compared to the same month last year, sales declined by 9.12 percent. For the year to date, new vehicle sales of 72,380 represents a 6.42 percent decrease compared to the same timeframe in 2025.
“New car sales are in line with national results, having slowed in Northern Ohio when compared to April of last year,” says Louis A. Vitantonio, president of the GCADA.
“Used vehicles are pacing consistently with 2025 as consumers face the continued affordability concern, along with another headwind from fluctuations in gas prices. Sales will continue to be challenged in 2026 as consumer confidence remains an issue.”
The best-selling brands in the region remain constant, with Chevrolet leading the competition by selling a total of 2,678 new vehicles. Ford’s sales of 2,491 keeps the brand a close second place, ahead of Honda’s 2,252 new vehicle sales. In fourth and fifth, Kia stays ahead of Toyota with 1,903 and 1,630 sales, respectively.
