Annual Notification of the Women's Health and Cancer Rights Act of 1998
In accordance with the Women’s Health and Cancer Rights Act of 1998, group health plans offering mastectomy coverage must also provide coverage for reconstructive surgery in a matter determined in consultation with the attending physician and the patient. This law requires that health plans cover reconstructive breast surgery only if the health plan provides coverage for mastectomies.
Please distribute the required annual notice included in this e-mail blast to any employees that are covered on the medical insurance by the end of the year. Do not hesitate to contact the GCADA Group Health Department with any questions you may have.
