New Vehicle Sales Jump
Back to Double Digit Growth

Cleveland, OH (October 9, 2014)
–  Sales of new vehicles rebounded strongly in September, with franchised new vehicle dealers ringing up a sales increase of almost 13 percent when comparing the month with September of last year. Franchised new vehicle dealers in Northern Ohio sold 22,974 vehicles in the month compared with 20,431 vehicles in September of 2013, an increase of 12.94 percent, according to figures released today by the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association (GCADA).

“Northern Ohio dealers are continuing to see growth as we enter the fourth quarter of 2014,” says Louis A. Vitantonio, Jr., president of the GCADA. “Buyers across our 21 county region have waited until the right time to purchase and there hasn’t been a better time than now.”

Ford continued its reign as Northern Ohio’s best selling brand, selling 3,646 vehicles in August, an increase of more than five percent over September of 2013. Chevrolet closed in on its rival, ringing up sales of 3,216 vehicles in September of 2014, versus 2,797 sold in the month last year, an increase of almost 15 percent. Honda also had a great month in September, besting Toyota for third place in Northern Ohio. Honda dealers sold 2,279 vehicles for the month, an increase of almost 16 percent over September of last year. While it slipped back to fourth, Toyota was also in the black, selling 2,046 vehicles in the month compared to 1,999 vehicles a year ago.

Acura had a strong month, due in part to the new TLX, registering an increase of over 30 percent in the month. Infiniti also continued its winning ways, with sales up over 39 percent while Jaguar sales jumped by 37.5 percent when comparing September of 2014 with September of 2013.
