FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Cleveland, OH – Continuing the previous month’s momentum, new vehicle sales in Northern Ohio increased by 14.63 percent in May, compared to the same month last year. According to figures released today by the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association (GCADA), dealers sold 18,802 new cars, trucks and SUVs last month, and year to date, the region saw an increase of 2.87 percent over 2022 sales.
“May’s positive results are indicative of the pent-up demand that remains from previous years,” says Louis A. Vitantonio, president of the GCADA. “However, interest rates continue to stifle affordability for some consumers, who have turned to new vehicle leases or used vehicles. We will see further downward pressure on pricing, as purchase and/or interest rate incentives gradually return.”
Chevrolet continues to be Northeast Ohio’s best-selling brand, with 2,501 new vehicle sales. Ford came in second place with 2,252 sales in May. In third place, Honda recorded 1,717 new vehicle sales in the region, followed by Kia and Toyota, with 1,527 and 1,296 sales respectively.
