FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Cleveland, OH – New vehicle sales are on the rise, with an increase of 2.94 percent last month, compared to April of 2022. According to figures released today by the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association (GCADA), dealers in Northeast Ohio sold 17,436 new cars, trucks and SUVs. For the year to date, the region’s sales are on par with last year, with a difference of just three new vehicles registered over the four-month period.
“New vehicle sales continue on a positive path as inventories have grown over the last few months,” says Louis A. Vitantonio, president of the GCADA. “Given the current interest rates and economic uncertainty, the April results are positive as customers have options for specific models and packages available in stock.”
“The used vehicle numbers tell a different story, as low inventory levels and higher prices make the case for purchasing or leasing a new vehicle,” Vitantonio added. Used vehicle sales so far in 2023 total 69,782, down by 4.21 percent from last year. For the month of April, sales of used cars, trucks and SUVs were off by 17.53 percent when compared to the same month a year prior.
Chevrolet remained Northeast Ohio’s best-selling brand, with 2,501 new vehicle sales. Ford came in second place with 2,284 sales in April. In third place, Honda recorded 1,513 new vehicle sales in the region, followed by Kia with 1,472 sales.
