FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Cleveland, OH – New vehicle sales in February of 2023 again fell slightly, by 1.73 percent, compared to February of 2022. According to figures released today by the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association (GCADA), dealers sold 14,165 new cars, trucks and SUVs last month, a difference of 250 vehicle sales from the same month a year ago.
“Continued economic turbulence, inflation and inventory shortages are keeping the Northern Ohio new vehicle sales pace on par with 2022,” says Louis A. Vitantonio, president of the GCADA. “As we wrap up the 2023 Cleveland Auto Show this weekend, where consumers have the chance to compare brands before making their purchase decision, we expect to see added traffic in dealerships and anticipate increased sales activity in the coming weeks.”
The Cleveland Auto Show is open now at the I-X Center, with hours of 11 AM to 10 PM Friday and Saturday, March 3 and 4. The Show’s last day, Sunday March 5 runs from 11 AM until 8 PM, with the “Grand Finale” Official Vehicle Giveaway scheduled to take place live at 4 PM. Details on the contest and show info is online at clevelandautoshow.com.
Chevrolet remained the region’s best-selling brand, 1,976 new vehicle sales. Ford came in a close second with 1,951 sales in February. Northeast Ohioans bought 1,206 new Kias last month, ahead of Honda’s 1,061 and Toyota’s 1,034 sales.
