FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Cleveland, OH – According to figures released today by the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association (GCADA), Northern Ohio franchised new motor vehicle dealers reported 19,005 sales in July, an increase of 12.39 percent compared to the same month last year. For the year to date, the region gained 3.11 percent over the prior year’s registrations.
“Some of July’s sales benefited from the CDK software interruption that took place in late June,” says Louis A. Vitantonio, president of the GCADA. “Interest rates and affordability continue to hamper sales activity in Northern Ohio.”
“Interest rate relief would be a welcome change, helping consumers purchase a new or used vehicle. We believe the sales increase will carry to the end of the year; however, it will not be a record-setting year for vehicle sales.”
Chevrolet held onto the gold medal as the region’s top-selling brand, with 2,651 new vehicles sold in July. Ford secured the silver with 2,442 sales in the month, while Honda took the bronze with 1,805. Kia and Toyota just missed the podium, finishing fourth and fifth with 1,652 and 1,224 sales, respectively.
